This is not just a lifestyle but a culture, with dedicated individuals and committed families who spend their time, tears, sweat and money into projects that sometimes last years. Going from what others think are junk or classic cars these extensive projects are more than the surface shows.

For anyone who has never experienced this culture, it truly can be a culture shock to realize that it is NOT an expensive hobby but a passion passed through generations.

The scene itself is more than we could just scratch, on the surface.

There are multiple car clubs located around the nation and even overseas. Born in the late 1940s in sunny California this phenomenon of Mexican- American culture relived a peak in the 90's, when Lowriders became strongly associated with West Coast Hip Hop and G-Funk culture. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Warren G among others featured Lowriders in their music videos.

This man is truly one in a billion https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2018/6/vitiligo-model-photo-session It's easy to say that everyone is unique in their own ways and even in regards to appearance, Many people we meet throughout everyday life just blend in with society. Only very few stand out and even fewer due to their natural appearance. But this world is filled with beauty and blessings in many ways.

In a city where looks are somewhat important in regards to the Las Vegas hospitality and nightlife industry, many people go to great length to stand out. This man stands out in a crowd and a world of everyday people and yes even from those who will go to greater length.

I noticed Moon when I was at the DMV, it hasn’t happened to me a lot yet, that I run into someone and get the vision of the final edited image in my head but I had an overwhelming feeling that made me jump out of my seat and approach him. With my business card in my hand I introduced myself and said that I was interested in taking his pictures.

I know of a few models who have vitiligo, Winnie Harlow is probably the most famous since her appearance on ANTM. Or Curtis McDaniel, who was apparently only 11 years old when the first speckles of vitiligo appeared.

Vitiligo is a skin condition, the skin loses pigment cells and it results in discolored patches in different areas of the body, including the skin, hair, retina and more. A few weeks after I approached Moon at the DMV, I got a text message from him and I was excited that he agreed to a test shoot, so we scheduled a shoot for the end of May.

You can break down, fall apart and let the circumstances own you or you can own the circumstances and rise like a Phoenix. It's all about perspective. And yes it is easy to say for someone who blends in but the awareness is raised.

Out of my perspective, you should embrace it, whatever is brought upon you in life will only make you stronger. Embrace to be different, embrace what the universe gifted you. There is always a reason for everything in life.

I am very thankful for the opportunity of not just meeting him and getting to know each other, having a fun photo session and even more happy with the images I captured and the edited images. The vision I had when our paths crossed became reality in these pictures. Thank you Moon!

Love is worth the hike https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2018/6/proposal-on-a-hike Last week I received a phone call from a friend who asked me if I still do engagement sessions. Of course I do...but at that time I wasn't aware that this engagement surprise session would come attached with a 30 minute hike up a hill in the desert. It was quite interesting to figure out the logistical part, I am a fairly petit person and the budget didn't allow for an assistant. So I decided to bring as little as possible and as much as needed. This did not allow me for any props to be a part of it.  But I was hoping to get some great shots anyways since it was in a natural setting. This was just one of the ideas for symbolizing that the couple will tie the knot.

To say the least, I was happy to be a part of this and made it up the hill with my equipment and since the proposal was a surprise, the conditions gave us some really adorable and romantic engagement pictures of the couple. The view was stunning and I want to at least share these two images from the session with you.

Personal Trainer and Fitness Model, getting up close with Trevis Hart https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2017/10/personal-trainer-and-fitness-model-trevis-hart These are the type of photo sessions I do enjoy the most, having a handsome model, who knows how to pose and who makes it look effortlessly good. I had the great pleasure capturing these images of personal trainer and fitness model Trevis Hart. Below are some of the images and different looks we captured. These photographs also work well for a set card selection.

When fitness is a huge part of your life, the world is your gym and even a busy street in Las Vegas can be inviting for some planks and push ups.

Trevis makes any type of sports equipment look good in his NIKE Sportswear on this Keiser Spin Bike.

He is a serious drill instructor when it comes to getting into shape.

So don't mess with this serious look, as a personal fitness trainer he will motivate you to look better naked!

I would have a hard time choosing between these two images, is there one pose better than the other?

These editorial style shots are the result of some great natural lighting we were able to capture.

Trevis looks like he is just featuring a page in a fitness magazine for a Nike ad. Don't you think?

And if you are looking to hire him you can reach him through Instagram @trevisnextdoor

A different kind of Business Look with Realtor Laura of Sun West Luxury Realty https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2017/10/a-different-kind-of-realtor-business-look Yet somewhat of a late post but well deserved, one of my favorite clients was kind enough to refer me and I am always happy when the images I captured get a great response like this. I pride myself with an eye for creative photography that I can apply to sessions that normally would be boring and plain. Cause let's be honest... anyone can take a boring picture although I understand the reasoning behind some being that way. It is hard enough to stand out from a million other photo pros. As much as goes into the preparation and the planning of a session, from selecting the right outfits to hair and make-up as well as props, the background location always plays a big role as well. I love the scouting part but when my client already has a location in mind I am all up for that. Laura is a Realtor here in Las Vegas, NV and the location of the session was at MacDonald Ranch, it is one of the most luxury gated communities in Las Vegas. She wanted to get updated editorial style photographs and I think the results are exactly that. A different look of a realtor business profile!

The views from here over the Las Vegas valley are amazing! The dress Laura is wearing in the images above does have an interesting pattern that doesn't draw away or distract to much from Laura herself. The choice of this dress was great for this editorial style business look. However, I suggest to stay away from busier patterns like this image below. The image of Laura in this dress is more of a personal portrait and not good to use for a business profile. It does not portrait the message. Although this photograph of her is amazing.

The same goes for the image below, the pattern of the dress is distracting and not professional enough to portrait her position. This picture is almost green screen like and looks like a mad composition but only the lighting and lens blur is slightly adjusted, I got very lucky capturing this image. The view of the Las Vegas Valley in the background is amazing up here from MacDonald Ranch in Henderson, NV. I hope she would use this picture in her home.

Please make sure to collaborate with your photographer on the look you want to portrait and what the choices of the outfits will be. I think that is important and should be discussed in a consultation or meeting. If you are uncertain, don't hesitate to hire a professional stylist. You are investing in yourself with a photo session like this.

Kids Modeling Portfolio and Set Card Session at Mount Charleston near Las Vegas https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2017/10/kids-modeling-portfolio-session Looking at my latest blog entries, I have noticed that I missed out blogging about some great shoots that happened.

And in order to update my content and continue this blog, please have a look at one of my favorite kids modelling session with this talented and outgoing young lady named Zoe.

Her attitude and fun personality made it easy for me to capture her in this model portfolio building session.

We decided to have our session beginning of fall at Mount Charleston and used different locations around that area.

For this Session we also decided on different outfits for Zoe to model.

If you are thinking about getting your child into modeling, make sure you bring different types and styles of clothing.

A variety of different outfits and looks show off how versatile your child is.

For a professional set card you need at least 5 images, while you have 1 head shot on the front of the card and 4 photographs on the back.

It can be a long day if you book a full set card or modeling portfolio session and could be strenuous on your child but also fun, adventurous and rewarding.

It is important that you start the day out with a proper breakfast and that the child is not rushed.

It is also good to bring snacks and water or juices with you to the session.

Without make up and hair done, this head shot is all natural, I think it's a great look especially for child models.

Most agencies and clients want to see a models natural beauty rather than a finished product!

The creative mind of an artist will prefer this look.

In order to get the best results, your child gets the room to play and have fun at the set.

Of course supervision and attendance of at least one parent is mandatory and always required.

Even though modeling is a hard discipline, natural poses always succeed. Just Be Yourself!

The image below is one of my favorite compositions from the photo-shoot, we came across some wild horses,

which also happened to be one of the last images captured that day.

Weekend Getaway to the Grand Canyon Western Ranch https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2016/9/grand-canyon-western-ranch What a great experience, only a few hours (2 to be exact) away from Las Vegas, this Ranch is located near the west rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. It used to be a cattle ranch and  is now a wonderful escape for a very unique and exciting weekend getaway, whether you are a tourist or a local.

Going with a group of friends or with that special someone for a romantic weekend. And in case you want to save time, there are direct helicopter flights to the Ranch from the Las Vegas Strip.

Either way, the trip is worth making and staying at least one night in old western style log cabins is quite exciting.

The Ranch offers a restaurant and bar with musicians who provide live western entertainment and there are campfires at night. The highlight though would be the sunset horseback and wagon rides. From my own experience I can only highly recommend this adventure and I am actually looking forward to my next trip out there.

For more information on the ranch and how to book your getaway please follow this link

It's an experience you don't want to miss and the memories you make here will last you a lifetime!

Newborn Bliss with Baby William https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2015/11/newborn-bliss Our Newborn Session with Baby William and his Mom Katie

It is always a great pleasure to document a new life in it's first few days in this world, especially if they come in cute knitted partial clothing. Baby William was born on October 28th 2015 and we met him on November 1st 2015. In the comfort of his home with his mommy Katie we had a wonderful time taking these precious images of her second son.

William's mom Katie already had set the theme and the idea with this cute American Football setting, so we were absolutely on board right away and excited to get started.

As I mentioned earlier, we only met Baby William 4 days after he was born and that is a very important side note. It is easier to take pictures of newborns within the first 7 days after they left the womb. They still sleep a lot and fall asleep faster, they don't stretch much yet and are a lot easier to pose as well maintain in the positions you mold their little bodies in. They are still very flexible and can hold certain poses for an amount of time that allows the photographer to get the perfect shot. Of course with mommy right there it is insured that the newborn is always taken care of and comfortable. To get more info about Newborn Photo Sessions please contact us via email

50 Shades of Grey and Mad Men inspired couple Photoshoot https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2015/5/50-shades-of-grey-inspired-photoshoot Our theme for this shoot was inspired by the number 50, this included the 1950's Mad Men Style and 50 Shades of Grey.

It was a great or shall I say GREY (ed) session with Ariel and Josh. It is always easy to shoot naturally beautiful couples so this was a lot of fun.

We had a room at a local Hotel and Casino here in Las Vegas which provided a perfect background for our theme. We started out with striking poses for the first part of the session. In the editing process we added some fading filters with warmer colors as well as a touch of emerald green. This complimented Ariel's beautiful natural red hair. Since we had a huge window with a natural light source, it also gave us some nice lens flare.

The second part of our session was even sexier, are you ready? 50 Shades of Grey inspired us to these poses and they are hot! As natural as these images look, I believe that in particular Josh might agree that it is hard work to hold these poses, or not? Good thing he goes to the gym and is strong, Ariel had the easier part in this session. And we had a lot of fun with the prop as well. These images were stunning in  their original color but since we decided on the grey theme, see for yourself.

Little Ballerina I Armelly, creative ballet photography https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2014/10/little-ballerina-i-armelly Posing young Ballerinas for studio photography and set ideas.

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of having a very talented young lady in front of my lens. I was very excited trying all kinds of poses with this young Ballerina as well set ups in my studio here in Las Vegas. Losing flexibility over the years myself, it first appeared to be a challenge. But this young lady was able to express the poses I suggested easily. I Armelly was a pleasure to work with, very mature for her age of only 10 years, easy to direct and a beautiful subject.

Since this was our first session together, we warmed up with a white backdrop and some easy ballet poses going through the positions. After that we started with posing her in the studio.

Since the white backdrop was a not the best contrast for the light ballet tights, we switched over to a black backdrop and included a glass table top that we placed on top of the backdrop to create a natural reflection.

This allowed us to get stunning images with a prop that was easy to use. Armelly's physical flexibility and her calm, friendly and gentle personality transferred great into these images.

Bringing in a mirror, allowed us to step it up yet again and we were able to capture some even more creative images of this young Ballerina.

All in all this was a very well rounded creative session that due to the set changes took a little longer than expected but the outcome of these photographs proves that it was worth every minute spent.

My Photo Studio in Las Vegas https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2014/10/my-las-vegas-photo-studio-is-open Yes, it has been there before, but I have to admit it was not easy to work in it. So with the newly redone surface, it is again, open for business! I am happy that now it will be fun again to shoot inside my home studio. It is a huge benefit to have a dedicated spot without having to rent from someone else. Everything is available at an arms length and no need to carry heavy equipment around, including props.

Starting with the different colored backdrops, which are mounted to the wall and easy to pull down. The sets can be changed fast. The color options I offer include Black & White as well as Blue & Green for some more creative projects and chroma key.

But this is not all, there is a long wishlist for certain equipment that needs to be updated as well as other props and set options around the house. So the work continues. I felt like I had to share this new interesting fact. So yes I am open for business in my Las Vegas Studio so feel free to contact me with your photography needs.

How to find the right Wedding Photographer https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2014/9/picture-perfect-wedding Capturing Your Picture Perfect Wedding

There is no second take on your wedding day and in order to have the memory from your special day last for a lifetime, it takes more than just a body holding a camera and pushing button. Unless you are going for an extremely unconventional style and look. You want to ensure that you receive a certain quality and that certain moments will be captured without doubt. This includes the exchange of the rings and of course the first kiss as husband and wife. Sure, uncle Joe might have attended many weddings before yours but a professional wedding photographer has the experience and eye for detail that is necessary to capture these images. This is the photographers profession.

There is a variety of professional photographers to chose from, with different styles, packages and pricing.

The Style

Be sure to research the photographers portfolio and see if you like the style of the photographer. The angles the images are taken in, the quality of the photographs and the overall feel. Like many artists, photographers come with their own flavors and not everyone shares the same taste.

The Packages and Pricing or a menu "a la carte"

Don't be fooled, just because you hired the photographer does NOT mean that you own all the pictures from your wedding. And if this comes as a surprise, this article will help you understand and prepare. I found it so very well written and informative, that I am sharing this link rather than to explain it in my own words. Many photographers offer packages, these packages come with certain features and are mainly a deal in regards to "a la carte" orders. It is almost comparable as going to a fast food restaurant, where you can get a meal bundle that includes fries and a drink with your burger or you order from the menu where you pay for each additional item, in the end the choice is up to you. When you are working with a budget, there are many options. Estimated and based on the 2013 average wedding spending, the costs that you need to calculate for just hiring a service professional are between $1,000 for a wedding on a budget up $3,000 for the average wedding, and $5,000+ for a couture wedding, make sure you inquire with the professional what is included and what not. Also make sure to be honest with the photographer about your budget, if you feel uncomfortable spending a certain amount or if the pricing proposed by the professional is beyond your budget. Ask them what they can do for the budget you have available, you will be surprised, if your personalities click or if your wedding is something out of the ordinary, they might be willing to work with you.

Every photographer should have a website or a blog, where their work is viewable. If they can not provide you with a portfolio, you might want to step away from considering them. Also make sure to ask if the photographer will be the one who is documenting your wedding, depending on the size of the company.

Speaking for myself, as soon as I am in touch with the couples, I suggest a meeting to find out if we click. Just because I work within your budget doesn't mean we are a match. I want to make sure that we are comfortable with each other, this will reflect in your photographs. My intention is to bring out the best in you, your spouse and your wedding party. In the first meeting I take notes of your wishes and concerns, I collect as much information as possible to either offer you a package or helping to create a package for your desired needs. Depending how far along you are with your planning I also suggest an engagement session. Please follow this link to find out more. I have also written in a prior post about engagement sessions. I find it valuable time spent which will make you feel even more comfortable  and prepared on your wedding day. I put together a proposal and based on that proposal, we establish a written agreement. I also inquire a provided shotlist from my couples that states which shots the couple really wants. For example, family members, certain couple shots, the bride with her mother, groom and groomsmen, etc...

And there are many more additional services available, keep in mind that you can inquire about video production as well.

Close Up with Choreographer Mic Thompson https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2014/9/micthompson Directing the Choreographer Mic Thompson in front of my lens,

was not really necessary, his business has a lot to do with posing! It was a fun session with Mic Thompson, the energetic choreographer, here at our studio in Las Vegas  and it turned out some fabulous studio shots! Mic has been a very close  and dear friend for many years and I was proud to capture his personality. I never try to bother my friends with forcing my work on them, so it was a wonderful surprise when Mic inquired about shooting with me. I felt honored and was happy to have him in front of my lens. "Thank you Mic" !

Mic has been an in-house Disney Choreographer for several years, with the Walt Disney Company.  Mic is the choreographer that brings the best dancers in LA to burn the floor at Disneys El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, in full production live stage shows TANGLED, UP, RATATOUILLE, HERBIE-FULLY LOADED, SANTA CLAUS 2, MONSTERS INC., and many more.  He also played a role in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL.  He also was one of the very few in the entertainment industry who was fortunate enough to perform with Michael Jackson as a principle dancer from 1993-2002 and danced right behind the King Of Pop in Dangerous and as Uncle Creepsley in GHOSTS.  For more information on Mic Thompson, visit his website at http://micsmatch.com/

Over a century old photographs a family treasure that almost was lost forever https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2014/5/the-art-of-photography-historical-documents My personal historical discovery of photography on my father's side of the family tree

On my latest trip back home to Germany, "my fatherland in the old world", I decided to work a little bit on our family tree. Before I go further though, I have to say that I love where I am from. It is where my roots are, where my family is and my heart belongs. As for my choice of living, I prefer the land of opportunity and free, where the American Dream is alive in the sunny state of Nevada and Las Vegas as my first choice as a home from home. Traveling back and forth, I have plenty of time to think while traveling by plane and my thoughts mainly spin around the same subject.

How precious life is, how every moment counts, how I don't like to waste time, how important it is to make the most of it. And oh so much more, but I don't want to bore you with my thoughts.

I find a lot of fulfillment in my photography, documenting moments in life that will never return. I emphasize on being creative, having fun and producing stunning images. Also it is a huge learning experience and gaining more knowledge with each day, each session and each edit.

Photography has been around for many centuries, even before the camera obscura, there were signs of interest in photography. The development of this art, from it's baby steps on, would be another post on my blog. So, let's move on to my actual subject of this post.

I was in Germany, working on my family tree and foraging through boxes like a maniac, looking for certain images I had seen in the past, when I grew up, there was an album in my grandma's draw. In 2013 my parents had a lot of water damage from massive rain floods and I was almost ready to give up, when I found the oldest photo album in our families possession, half destroyed in a laundry basket drying. I was devastated to see this and almost in tears. I slowly opened the album and inspected the photographs. The vintage images survived!

Remember when we started printing pictures at home on our inkjet or laser printers? Let me tell you this, if those images would have been printed on poor quality paper, they would have been none existing by now.

The photographs I found are over a century old and the quality is amazing!!! Considering what these images have been through.

So I did my best to clean them as gentle and good as I could. And to prevent further possible losses, I decided to scan them in order to have digital copies and I archived the original images in a safer spot.

My main focus of this post shall not be ignored though, I would like to take your attention from the actual photographs and look at the back which is actually next to the picture. The amazing artistry and graphic design with all the detailed information about the Studio.

It also states that the original plates will be archived with the studio for reproduction and enlargements. Too bad that some of the studios do not exist anymore.  As I am in the process of re-branding 7o2 Photography to Alexandra Mona Photography, I am very intrigued and challenged by these oldies. It was an amazing experience re-discovering these historic photographs. Researching the photographers and studios, brushing up on family and photography history. These images enriched my life in a way that I can not describe. The impact they had and what I will cherish in the future from this, to me it is a priceless find.

About maternity and pregnancy photography https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2014/5/about-maternity-and-pregnancy-photography Are you searching for reasons why you should have a maternity photo session?

There are many benefits to having your pictures taken by a professional photographer, in this special phase of your life. I will go more into detail later on. But, making this moment in your life last forever with stunning images of your journey to motherhood, is for most women a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The best time to take your perfect maternity images is around the 33rd week

of your pregnancy.

(+- a week) it depends on the growth of your belly.

My main focus is on capturing your natural beauty and that radiant glow while ensuring your comfort and well being. While having you in the middle of a lake getting amazing photographs like these.

As a female photographer I understand the female body and whether you want to expose your belly or not, there are many creative ways of capturing this milestone in your life. I encourage you to bring ultrasound images, baby shoes, maybe a dress shirt from the dad and anything else that can make the images more personal.

I understand that a weight gain and certain flaws that come with this body change might not make you feel the most attractive or that the roller coaster of emotions and hormones can be a drain. And yes, I do edit the images and use Photoshop if you want, not many mother's to be like the belly button sticking out, stretchmarks or when you are even further in your pregnancy, the human seam. I promise to make you as flawless as you want to be.

I see it as my responsibility to take that stress away from you and produce stunning images that will last you as a lifetime memory. Pregnancy is so special and precious and it has become more and more of a celebration in our cultural environment. Being a part of this journey in a woman's life and documenting these moments is a fabulous reward with a production of amazing photographs.

Whether you choose to have a session by yourself or include your partner, soon to be siblings or any other family member. It is a way of showing affection, excitement and believe to your child. You can use the images for invitations to the baby shower or to display them in your nursery. So, if you were hesitating on having a photo session with that growing belly, I think you can say yes and start planning. This is also a great way to find out if you want to continue working with your photographer and have them taken pictures of the newborn, if they specialize in this, like I do. I also offer discounts on newborn sessions if I previously had a session with the mom to be.

Welcome baby with Smilebox.

Las Vegas Foodie Fest 2014 https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2014/5/las-vegas-foodie-fest-2014 "Happy people everywhere" could have been the motto for this years Foodie Fest in Las Vegas.

A Roach Coach meat swap and exclusive family entertainment was the highlight of this past weekend here in Las Vegas. While the temperatures where rising, everyone stayed hydrated with shaved ice and cool drinks. The best local and some of the country's best food trucks came together and showcased their menus.

Many fusion style delectables among sushi burritos but also hotdogs with a twist were served. Of course there were sweet highlights available as well, who doesn't love a funnel cake? Or dare to try the deep fried candy bars!

The connected carnival offered joy rides for every age group and the Luxor headliners, Jabbawockeez did not only perform in this scorching heat, they even offered a photo opportunity with a meet and greet after their show. Chapeau! And a huge amount of respect to them.

All in all I believe this event was a huge success and the Vegas locals are very appreciative for it. We are looking forward to the next year and if you like some more info, go to http://lasvegasfoodiefest.com/

More than just click, a picture evolution with a little help of #Photoshop https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2014/4/help-of-photoshop
Most clients only see the work that is done in front of them, not the actual work that is involved in a photo shoot.

There is more than just a click of a button to it and the actual time spent with the subject or model is less than 20%. Here are just some steps and examples of my previous work in relation to this post.

From the pre-production of a photo shoot, which includes;

  • envisioning a project or executing someones vision

  • casting the model or booking through a client

  • Styling, Hair and Make -Up (this includes working with professionals)

  • the set up in the studio or on location, Lighting, Equipment, etc.

  • the photo shoot, posing the subject, directing the shoot

  • the selection of the right image

  • cleaning and editing the image in the light room

  • and finally doing the work in Photoshop, graphic design and artwork.

There are many hours and a lot of work that go into one simple picture, so the actual time spent on the shoot with the subject is the smallest amount of time spent. I am not saying that it bothers me like crazy when some clients get impatient, I always try to explain when a process takes longer and why. This being one of the reasons why I am writing this post I can refer to from now on.

Although technology made it somewhat easier for more people to join this occupation, being a photographer is much more than just pushing a button, not just depending on the results and what they are for.

The results are stunning and even though the subject is beautiful, enhancing images in the light room (this includes #Photoshop and other applications) even if they are minor, makes a huge difference!

The Botanical Beauty Experts

So bubbly and full of personality, this photo shoot was inspired by so many influences.

It was a fun session with Model Rayne Drops in Las Vegas, NV.

Going with a colorful theme and a metropolitan / cosmopolitan location.

Here is a before image, absolutely unaltered.

The image is crisp, but dark, minor styling issues are visible and the left side of the picture seems a distraction from the model.

After editing this image, the picture is brighter and lighter, the styling issue on the skirt is fixed and the focus is on the model. After adding minor Make Up touch ups (including eye lashes), some bubbles and bling it pops!

The way that I see it, it is not much different from a woman using makeup, it enhances the natural beauty. Photoshop is everything except the foundation to me.  Sometimes less is more, I agree but sometimes more is fun, I believe that as long as the main subject is not altered in crazy ways, it features the best aspects and even adds a bit of drama.

Images of Maternity https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2014/4/images-of-maternity A keepsake for a lifetime and a memorable moment that will document this important phase of your journey to motherhood. Maternity photography is not always easy, especially as you feel tired and not always the most attractive. Where as to others, you are the most beautiful being in the world, a mother to be.

Your natural beauty and the glow you possess are an asset that will turn your pregnancy pictures into something so wonderful and special. Allow me to be a part of your journey and document these precious moments for you and your loved ones.

The best time to plan and actually have a photography session is around and in the 7th month of your pregnancy. I encourage you to have images with your family members as well as single shots and a session with siblings. If you have something creative and special in your mind I am always open to your suggestions and the use of props can come in handy as well. Bring your ultrasound images and if you already purchased any clothing, we can use those in the images as well.

Mostly, I want you to feel comfortable and have a great experience while we produce something special. Please contact me with any suggestions and questions.

Seasons Greetings! How to get better family portraits. https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/12/seasons-greetings The holidays are almost here, and it is time for the family portrait!

You do not have to chose a color theme, certain outfits or a specific location for your photo session. The most important aspect of the session is that you have fun and that the family enjoys this experience together. After all it is not your everyday activity being photographed. And whether you are shy or self conscious, have fun with it and have fun with your family! It will reflect in the pictures and this is what helps the photographer to create a great memory.

Here are some tips and tricks on how to prepare for your session!

Moms and Dads

  • Hair – If you’re getting a hair cut for your shoot, do so about two weeks beforehand, just in case it goes wrong – you just never know. For men, a fresh cut a couple of days before the shoot is fine.
  • Hair accessories – If you’re shooting outdoors, be ready to put your hair up and make it look nice in case of a windy day. Bring bobby pins, hair clips, headbands or any other favorite accessories.
  • Red eyes – Visine is your friend.  Make sure you get some rest and sleep before the shoot.
  • Make-up – A subtle application of make-up can really soften your skin and accent your facial features. But make sure you know what you’re doing, and make sure it matches your skin tone, or your face may look orange compared to the rest of your body. Also please no glitter or glimmer, that will reflect in the sun! You can also get your make-up done by a professional.
  • Facial hair – Men, be freshly shaved and trim your beard, sideburns, especially looking for wiry stray hairs. Ladies, even if you have some light facial hair (particularly around your lip or chin), indulge in a waxing in advance of your shoot – even barely-there light facial hair will be noticeable in your photos. Men and women both, pluck and clean up those eyebrows.
  • Moisturizer – Dry skin can really detract from a great photo shoot. Start moisturizing nightly a week in advance of your shoot. When you get out of the shower, dry off until lightly damp, and slather on moisturizer. Focus on your arms, shoulders, neck, face, hands, anywhere you’ll be exposed to the camera. This includes your legs if you’re shooting in shorts or a skirt. ProTip: For dry skin on your face, especially around your nose, use a sugar scrub. Mix a cup of sugar with about a quarter cup of olive oil, or just until it looks like wet sand. Scrub your face with it anywhere you have flaky skin, wash it off, then wash with soap to remove the oil. The sugar paste shouldn’t be oily, just wet enough to moisten the sugar. Also, be sure on your face to use a facial moisturizer, not a thick body moisturizer, or you could break out.
  • Nails – A fresh coat of nail polish will make a world of difference in your photo shoot. A nice French manicure is great as well. Pick a neutral color that won’t distract in your shoot or clash with your outfits. Freshen the morning of the shoot, then be careful not to scuff it while prepping. [I see this most often with high school senior girls, to whom half-gone nail polish seems to be a popular fad.] Your photo shoot is a great excuse for a fresh manicure, but if you can’t go to the salon, make sure your nails look tidy and clean, including the cuticles.
  • Undergarments – Bra straps won’t do anything to help your outfit look its best. Be sure you bring a set of bras and strap-adjusting accessories to work with any outfit you want to shoot in to keep those straps well-hidden..
  • Ironing - If you iron, iron the night before and then hang the clothes for your shoot. If you’re wearing something that wrinkles easily, don’t wear it in the car on the way to the shoot – just change at the location.
  • Last but not least! FEET - make sure your feet are groomed as well or get a pedicure. Just in case if there are barefoot images. You don't want flaky skin or dirty toes in your pictures.

Newborns and Babies

Use a wash cloth to clean away flaky skin and eye boogers.
Trim those tiny fingernails and toenails with appropriate baby trimmers.
Book your shoot around your baby’s feeding and nap times, work with the natural rhythm of your baby. The perfect time to shoot is right when the baby would be laying down for a nap. If your baby normally falls asleep after a feeding, wait to feed the baby until you’re at the shoot. Baby photographers allot plenty of time for this sort of thing to set up the best situation for great photos.
Dress up paper diapers. Cloth diapers are classy and stylish, but if you don’t use them, bring bloomers or decorative diaper covers, solids preferred.
Nothing is the best wardrobe for a newborn – no outfit fits a newborn well, and they often look swallowed in clothes. Accessories are good, though – little hats, dainty headbands, boys in crocheted hats, etc. Bring sentimental items like the quilt that Grandma made for the baby, a baby blanket from your own childhood – they’re great for the youngster to lay on.
If your baby takes a pacifier, bring it – if they’re bottle fed, bring an extra bottle to help put the baby to sleep.
Also, if you want any personal props in the pictures, please bring those along as well. 2-3 different outfits and shoes per person for variety.

I hope these little tips help to prepare for the shoot and add to the experience. It makes a big difference and what is better than sending heartfelt greetings and wishes with a customized greeting card?

My vendors offer many designs and samples but if you have special graphic requests, I can surely adjust your personal greeting card.

Free Photography? https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/11/free-photography A couple of things I find quite irritating since I started my photography business and I am apparently not the only one feeling this way about a certain topic. Below is an excerpt I found on lightstalking.

An excerpt from Rob's article on http://www.lightstalking.com/obnoxious-photographer-beliefs

"Friends Will Work for Free – The ridiculousness of asking your accountant friend to do your tax for you for free is readily apparent to most people. So is getting your dentist friend to do a bit of free root canal work. For some reason, that doesn’t extend to photographers. This one seems to be unique to photographers too.

Better Equipment Means Better Photographs – When a painter comes up with a fantastic painting, do you say, “Wow, you must have a great brush and paints!” This is a pet irritation of a lot of photographers. If you really think that it takes an expensive rig to take a great photograph, then you need to check out what can be done with the humble iPhone.

My Brother Can Shoot the Wedding – Well, your brother probably can take photographs at the wedding. Just like he can do your tax. Or fix your car. Of course if you want your car to keep going, or avoid getting slammed by the IRS, then you might like to get a professional to look at your tax return and car. Just like you might like to check out some professionals if you want good wedding photographs.

They Have No Right to Shoot X – The truth is that if a photographer is in a public space in most western countries then they can shoot just about anything. That includes you, security guards, police, children, your house – anything. If they are on private property, then it’s different, but in public there is usually no legal expectation of privacy. (Check the laws in your own country for specifics). That’s not to say they shouldn’t be polite, but rights are a whole different issue to manners.

If It’s a Striking Photograph, It Must be Photoshopped – A talented photographer knows that getting an image right “in camera” is the best way to end up with a great result. Many are actually very good at it and get stunning images before they get anywhere near a computer. That is what makes them good at their craft. That is why they study. That is why they practice.

They’ll Be Grateful for the Work and Work Cheap – This one again goes back to professional respect. You don’t ask your dentist for a discount. You don’t ask your child’s teacher to throw in Maths and Science, but don’t charge you for geography. You don’t ask your waiter to throw in dessert for free. So don’t do this to a photographer. If you cannot pay for the service, then don’t ask for it.

I Know a Guy Who Can Do It Much Cheaper – Yes, yes, everybody knows a friend of a friend who can do the photography job for a third of the cost. The kicker is that a photography business is an expensive one to run and you get what you pay for. If you’re happy enough to risk your cheap shooter, then go for it. Just don’t use it as a cheap bargaining ploy when you’re talking to a professional."

In any industry I have ever worked in, people use and need skills they have learned in one way or the other by education which in some cases costs more and in other cases costs less. Regardless of that, the equipment to run a photography business doesn't come cheap either. Camera bodies and lenses, reflectors, speed lights, batteries, programs for the computer and backdrops, the list goes on and on. It is expensive and needful to run a good business. A service that is provided shall be properly paid for or do you work for free? Or just work for food and lodging?

“I am an artist, This does not mean I will work for free, I have bills just like you! Thank you for understanding.”

The Perfect Family Portrait https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/11/family-portrait Are you ready yet, to get your family portraits? Make the most out of your session. In these days, most people have everything they need or they purchase what they need themselves. But to capture a special time i your life can be the greatest present ever. You can gift albums or other photo products for the holidays, my vendors supply first class goods and service. Quality, including a variety of large prints on canvas or metal. How amazing would the image below look on a wall in the families home?

The Walker family was great and wonderful to shoot with. They are easy going and with a little bit of direction we got some incredible photos from the session at Sunset Park in Las Vegas, which offered a great backdrop for the perfect family portrait.

Their baby girl was just a few months old and she already had an amazing personality. Make sure you also capture these moments, they won't last long and they will never return.

Nowadays there are so many options and whether you go for a color theme or a special location, some families might even chose studio portraits. The perfect time to get dressed up and share your favorite family pictures.

A big THANK YOU to the Walker Family for hiring me and my services. I hope they enjoy the pictures.

Trick or Treat https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/10/trick-or-treat Fall has so much to offer, the season itself with the colors of nature, the crisp air and oh Halloween!

In the last post I described how great our two and a half hour session with little Jazlynn was and how she was so adorable and almost angelic in the pumpkin fairy shoot . Here are some more images from the same session a bit more sassy. We played Trick or Treat and got some great Halloween shots! How exciting that was, hopefully reflects in the images.

What a fabulous season and it's just a couple more weeks until the little trick or treaters are out and about. Playing tricks and getting treats.

And as they are growing up so fast it's a nice occasion to get images of the little ones in their favorite Halloween costumes. Why not send some greetings and surprise the whole family? These moments are rare and here to cherish, they will never come back. So whether you are hiring a professional photographer like myself or get some snapshots on your own. These are important memories!

Little Jazlynn was a delight working with and as I am getting more and more into kids photography, she is a blessing.

Pumpkin Fairy Shoot https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/10/pumpkin-fairy-shoot Right on time, with the recent beginning of fall season and before her 2nd birthday, the lovely little Miss Jazlynn was a treat to work with and I truly enjoyed photographing her in my Las Vegas Studio, with the help of her mommy Callie. She was a tremendous help.

I am the first one to admit that I am not used to photographing little ones much and since I don't have children of my own, yet, I am still learning more and more about handling the little humans on set and in front of the camera.

These images of Jazlynn make it look so easy, she looks calm and relaxed in these photographs almost angelic.

But these images where the last ones I took during our almost two and a half hour session with many outfit changes and mini breaks here and there.

The pumpkin fairy theme turned out to be my favorite and I am excited to share these photographs with you.

Rebranding my photography business https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/10/rebranding-my-photography-business In 2009 when I first started out with professional photography, I figured a Las Vegas related brand would be helpful and suitable to get started.

7o2 Photography was out of my perspective a good brand name and branding to go with. I wanted it to be different and not go with my own name at that time. It was affiliated with the city I lived in, which got me started and to be quite frankly, it did have it's perks.

Throughout the past years, I have noticed that my website address wasn't the best choice though and quite difficult to communicate when it was not on paper. I was happy with my brand and logo for the past 4 years.

As life happens, perspectives and opinions change, we as humans develop and so do companies. And while my personal life is changing, 7o2 Photography's life is changing as well.  I am using this as the perfect timeline and being the main reason, for rebranding my photography business. I am ready to make it more personal, my photography is personal after all. I create images in style with passion and class and want to have a brand that is attached to myself more so rather than a location. I have come to realize that the time has come and change is good! As for now, the website is still running under www.seven-o-two.com but I am slowly introducing my new branding. Please feel free to add me on Facebook and stay tuned for more updates.

And while the main photography business will run under Alexandra Mona Photography, I am also introducing my logo for Wedding Photography.

Logo Alexandra Mona Wedding PhotographyLogo Alexandra Mona Wedding PhotographyWedding Photography by Alexandra Mona

I know this transition will take quite some time and rebranding your business is not easy. It's almost like reinventing yourself.

I do not regret the past four years and my 7o2 branding, it helped me establish and gain experience, friends, clients and to develop in the industry.

If you are interested in finding out more about branding and rebranding , I came across some great articles and the information I found will hopefully help me steer into the right direction as well.

Mini Sessions https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/10/mini-sessions Yesterday, I must admit, I was a bit disappointed when one of my Fall Special sessions was cancelled. I had all of today blocked off and was ready to shoot. But when one door closes, another one opens. And sometimes Facebook postings can be helpful in that regard. I was very excited to have a mini - session with little Tristan today who was "All Boy... ROUGH & TUMBLE", here are just a few great shots from the session.

Photoshop World 2013 Las Vegas https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/9/photoshop-world-2013-las-vegas I was happily attending this years Photoshop World with my camera! Last year I couldn't make it and the year before I was only able to attend the Expo but I didn't bring my camera. So I was really excited about the Models and Sets that again were provided by Westcott. Only for 2 days, Photoshop World attendees have the opportunity to gain industry insights here in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. Many great Seminars were held at the convention and expo from September 4-6 and I was glad to broaden my horizon yet again. I believe it is important to always stay on top of news and solutions as well as taking advantage of the great deals no matter which industry one belongs to. It was great to make new connections and to see how I can apply certain aspects to my own business.

Jaime & Curtis with Events by Bianka https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/9/jaime-curtis-with-events-by-bianka In collaboration with Events by Bianka it was a successful wedding session at the Hilton Garden Inn where they allowed us to use their Hawaiian Garden. Again, Bianka was amazing with her organizational skills. She is a true talent and coordinating is her passionate calling! I admire her for being so on point! A fabulous young lady who is so talented. The Bride Jaime and the Groom Curtis brought their lovely girl Kaliana (who was a trooper at only 3 years young) and we got some great shots with her as well. Here is a sneak peak of a few edited images. I am excited working on the Album and Gallery as much as I am excited to share with everyone who was involved in this wedding project.

I am happy to offer two really great deals on Wedding Photography for now and until the end of 2013. If you take some time and see for yourself, you will find out that the a la carte menu prices are beaten by far in the Silver and in the Gold Package! Of course the Wedding Photography is a new area to me and I took this into consideration but I am not a newbie and know the value of my services. This is why I can offer these competitive prices right now. So if you know of anyone who is planning their engagement or wedding, keep me in mind and pass these great deals on. If they book this year, the prices will still apply for a wedding in 2014.

The next shoot is already scheduled and I am excited to meet the couple Jaime and Curtis with their lovely little daughter and with Events By Bianka .

Of course I will post the images here and keep you posted on news in regards to this new Endevour of my passionate photography life.

Wedding Session with Events by Bianka Anchondo https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/8/wedding-session-with-events-by-bianka-anchondo Wow! Is the first expression that comes to my mind.

After planning the Wedding Session for about three weeks and kudos to Bianka from Events by Bianka, we were finally able to have our first couple "Chelsea and Devin" in the studio on Saturday. Bianka has exceptional organizational skills and she had everything planned to the T, from the Hair Stylist and Make Up Artist to the props, it was a pleasure and made my job as a photographer a lot easier! It was grand having the opportunity working with her, building my wedding portfolio and I am looking forward to the future and collaborating.

The couple, which was selected for the shoot was adorable and they did a fantastic job considering the outside temperatures almost being in the 100's, even the AC in the studio had a hard time keeping cool that day. And we had to get outdoor images as well and they were true troopers. The long day was well worth it though and I hope everyone who participated in this project enjoys the images as much as I do.

GEISHA HOUSE Las Vegas https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/8/geishahouse I enjoyed taking part in the recent Grand Opening, on the 7th of August 2013 at the new location on the west side in Las Vegas. The restaurant, bar and lounge feature Beni Hana style seating with amazing young chefs who know how to entertain the guests. It features a Sushi Bar and a room where the Sushi is served on pretty Asian women. You can even enjoy your favorite sports game on one of the TVs by the bar and the outdoor patio is decorated with pretty lighting.  Many invited guests and friends of the Las Vegas Nightlife industry enjoyed the sampled menu and drinks. As for me I really enjoyed running into a few old friends myself and the casual catch ups.

The restaurant provided great photo opportunities with the hired models dressed up as Geishas and the entertainment continued with a variety of DJs and Japanese drum show. All in all I believe the Grand opening was a success and I hope to see this Japanese dining experience in a remote location to succeed. I believe it belongs on the strip but if word gets around, the west side of town shall surely support this local business.

Testing Makes Perfect https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/8/testing-makes-perfect As I have previously announced, I am ready to explore the world of couples, engagement and wedding photography. Until now I have always been shy about this niche of photography, but I feel it's time and I am ready to commit myself and 7o2 Photography to the romantic and wonderful couple, engagement and wedding sessions. I almost feel like I am engaging in a wedding. For the past years I was creating photography that appears like a single life and now it's time to get serious. Last week I was able to meet up with another wonderful young lady who is ready to start up her own event planning business with the focus on weddings, coordination and planning. I am not giving away to much quite yet as things are still in the planning phase at this time but I am looking forward to working with her and getting to know her better in the near future. Meanwhile I am doing research and as you can imagine I am preparing myself, getting creative with my camera. Today I enjoyed playing with one of my rings when I was reading by the pool and here is one of the creative images that I think is quite cute and romantic, a heart shaped shadow. Am I on the right track?

Well, testing makes perfect, so hopefully the creative juices will keep on flowing in the next few days. I am actually excited and enjoy this new side of my photography life.

Location hunting ... outdoor location near Las Vegas for photo shoots https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/8/location-outdoor-nelson-nevada A Fabulous location for photo sessions just outside Las Vegas, Welcome to Nelson!

Outdoor Photography may at times get difficult, yet I have come across a location that many of my fellow local photographer friends will agree with, is the Disneyland for photographers. So when you visit the Las Vegas area and are on the hunt for a quaint location, I suggest you take a trip to Nelson, NV. This location is no secret, yet a gem! Many music videos and movies were filmed here. The Ghost town like property I am referring to is private property, so you need to inquire within. Just South of Boulder City on the 95 South, a bit of a drive but well worth it. When you do take pictures, especially with models, you have to inquire inside the little store which also provides you with important information about the location and the dangers involved when shooting on their property. As in Dangers I am talking about the local inhabitants like snakes and scorpions but for most a dangerous species of cactus. After all, the location is in the desert. This location offers many antique and western style backgrounds, also vintage cars, antique gas pumps, signage and pickup trucks.

See all the sights of Las Vegas. Book a tour on Vegas.com.

Couple Engagement and Wedding Photography by 7o2 Photography https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/8/couple-and-engagement-photography-by-7o2-photography Couple and Engagement Photography by 7o2 Photography in Las VegasEngagement Photography Coming in fall 2013, 7o2 Photography will also provide Couple, Engagement and Wedding Photography. We are working on exclusive, creative and affordable packages, to provide you with full service photography for your event needs.

A couple that has never been photographed professionally before, will find that the engagement session is a valuable and important session. Some couples may feel it’s a waste of time or it is not necessary, however there are many valuable reasons why you will benefit from having a session with 7o2 Photography. This is a great way to getting used to the camera, getting to know your photographer and many more.

Establishing a relationship with your photographer long before your wedding will make a difference in the outcome of your wedding images.

The advantage of this is that you can let your photographer know ahead of time if there are shots or angles you do not care for, also you can let your photographer know the things that you do like, communication is key.

If you like to know if that Hair Style and Make Up you are planning to have for your wedding, will work in the pictures, you can test it in the engagement session. This way you get to see how you look in photos and you can let your Hair Stylist and Make Up Artist know if there is anything you would like to be changed.

On the wedding day you will look forward to having your picture taken, instead of dreading the thought of having a camera following you all day.

Once you have your engagement images there are many things you can do with them. Most couples would rather have an engagement image on their wall instead of one in their wedding attire, however some do both. We all have individual tastes so there is no right or wrong.

You can send an engagement picture to friends and family or they can be used in your wedding program / magazine, invitation, or in a save-the-date card.

The Cass House Inn a date with history https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/7/the-cass-house-inn
Cayucos and the Cass House
have a date with history
Or just a romantic getaway! This luxurious Restaurant & Inn in Cayucos,
CA offers five exquisite appointed guest rooms and an intimate dining room
that is open for dinner five nights a week, both of which are housed in the
meticulously restored home of the town’s founder, Captain James Cass.
Born in Bristol England in 1824, Captain James Cass crossed the Atlantic
31 times before the age of 19, but would ultimately call California his home.
James Cass built his house in stages between 1867 and 1875, at the time it served as the hub of
all cultural and social life in Cayucos. In 1993, after a 12 year period of abandonment, Gary &
Nancy Bagnall bought the property and spent 14 years meticulously restoring the house to it’s
original splendor, with the intention of turning it into a boutique hotel and restaurant. With the
same passion that James Cass invested in building the house, the Bagnalls made sure no detail
was overlooked before opening its doors to the public in the summer of 2007.
The ornamental, culinary and entertaining gardens that surround the house are available for
events or leisurely wandering and admiring. The Cass House is an ideal retreat for unwinding
and enjoying the relaxed lifestyle and beautiful scenery of California’s Central Coast.

Cayucos in California a gem on the central coast https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/7/cayucos-california
Cayucos
a small town with an old western
charm
Traveling Pacific Coast Highway or the 1 as many call it, just past Morro Bay is
a quaint town named Cayucos which deserves a stop and look see. Or if you are
seeking for a perfect spot to spend the weekend with your better half, Cayucos
is the weekend getaway place you might have just found. Cayucos offers a bit
of everything, shopping, dining, bars, cafe’s and quite a bit of history. Cayucos
by-the-sea is as original as it gets, the Chumash would use the bay area for
fishing hence it was first named by the native Americans, Cayucos means
“kayak”. In 1867 the days of the Spanish land grand, Captain James Cass
settled and founded the town of Cayucos. His house still stands today and was
transformed into a Restaurant and Inn (more here). Yet there is more to discover as you will take
a stroll down Ocean Avenue, the main street.
Besides Hotels, Motels and Inn’s the Old Cayucos Tavern really reflects the “Good Old Days”
where seafarers and gamblers met up. You can find a few murals on some buildings which aren’t
exactly from a hundred years ago, but at least they give the impression. Although some of the
buildings along Ocean Avenue have survived the test of time and the architecture of many other
buildings was designed to keep the spirit of the town alive.
The Cayucos pier located on the northern side of the town, is one of the oldest piers to find
among the central coast, it is a completely wooden pier. Originally built by Captain Cass and
Captain Ingals, it still stands today.

Morro Bay, CA https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/7/morro-bay-ca
A Family Fun Escape to The Central Coast
A beautiful city with great hikes along the coast as well as further in land
on it's mountain trails. Also known as the Gibraltar of the Pacific. The
whole family can enjoy golf, kayaking, sailing, hiking, fishing, surfing,
biking and a stroll on the promenade with quaint shops and great seaside
restaurants. The city also offers great festivals like the Annual Kite
Festival which is held on the last weekend in April. The Morro Bay
Estuary offers a perfect home for the local natural wildlife. Otters and
Seals enjoy the sunny days while the pacific ocean side offers whale
watching as well. Further in land many different birds find their sanctuary and even deer stroll
the meadows. Whilst enjoying a walk on the beach or bathing in the sun. Morro Bay is a great
getaway on the central California coast.

Montana De Oro https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/7/montana-de-oro Montana De Oro
A Gem On The Central Coast Of California
Looking for a place where you can become one with nature? Not far away, between Los Angeles
and San Fransisco on the Central Coast of California is a place named Montana
De Oro.
Montana De Oro invites you with breathtaking views, trails and surprises. If you
want to see and be a part of untouched nature with barely any traces of human
footprints. I suggest you take a trip towards a city named Los Osos in California. Take Los Osos
Valley Road and get on Pecho Valley Road, this will lead you straight to the Montana De Oro
State Park. Here you will not only find an amazing view of the central coast line but also be able
to wander the trails through the beautiful vegetation. The nature preserve allows visitors to walk
or horseback ride along the trails through the dunes to the 5 mile beach front of the Pacific
Ocean. It is a great hike yet it’s not suggested to wander off the secured trails. It was a testing site
for weapons in World War II and still to this day, landmines remain undiscovered. It is however a
rare part on this side of the planet where nature is untouched and if you are able to enjoy a trip on
a weekday, you might just be one with nature. It is also the home of the Snowy Plover an
endangered species, a resident in California for more than a thousand years yet pushed away by
human use of their natural environment. It is worth your while to discover this nature preserve
and explore the central coast. Los Osos offers also great trails for mountain biking and is fairly
close to the Morro Bay State Park.

Shell Beach in California https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/7/the-sights-of-shell-beach-in-california Welcome you with a million dollar view! A great place to bring the family and to
explore this dog friendly area. Just a few miles north past Pismo Beach,CA is a small village
named Shell Beach. If you are traveling the Central Coast of California from Santa Barbara to San Fransisco, it is a perfect spot to stop and give your soul a rest from the busy everyday life. Starting from Dinosaur Caves Park, where the kids can play, the dogs can
walk or run through the grass. You can enjoy a walk on the trail to Margo Dodd Park.

From there it’s just a few steps further down Ocean Blvd and you can take the steps down the cliffs to the beach.
Many local gulls nest here, among other bird species. So be sure to bring your camera! The ground squirrels found a perfect place
to burrow and if you are lucky you can see the seals warming up in the California Sun as they lay on the rocks close by the shore. Shell Beach is a very residential area although the locals are used to seeing strangers and welcome you sharing their amazing views of the Central Coast. Close by
are many resorts, great restaurants and you can even rent kayaks.

A great place for a weekend getaway!

Taking the Sin out of the City, a perfect day in Las Vegas https://www.seven-o-two.com/blog/2013/6/taking-the-sin-out-of-the-city Las Vegas, Nevada a perfect day in the City of Sin!
A Must Do List for the City of Sin
Words and photography by Alexandra Mona

The following tips for your trip to Las Vegas are purely based on my own experience. Living in Las Vegas since 2009, with a few breaks here and there, I have worked mainly as a Photographer but also as a Model, a Tour Guide, a Graphic Designer and most of all a Table Games Dealer oh did I mention I was a Go-Go dancer too?
I have had the time of my life living in Las Vegas and I wouldn’t miss it for the life of me. I never thought I could ever live there before I moved there. The amazing experiences and the memories made will last a lifetime. The interesting stories of people that have met Sinatra, Elvis and worked with many other stars. The stories inside the Casino’s and the history behind the neon glow. Many people might find it challenging to live in a city where you drink for free as long as you gamble, where shady people hide in a sunny place and tourists are looking for the one-night stand.
As dark as it can be, if you set your priorities straight, you can make the best living here and come out on top!
So, let me guide you through a perfect day in this Oasis of the desert!

The day starts with a good breakfast...
The best breakfast Buffet in my opinion is the one at the Wynn/Encore. If you are willing to spend round about $20 for the most important meal of the day. I think it’s well spent, make sure you bring your appetite to this exclusive Buffet with live cooking stations! This is the place to be, an all you can eat firework for the taste buds! Open from 8am on, the Buffet is also open for lunch and dinner.

Le Reve - The Dream

To ensure that you walk those calories right off, you are just about in the right place. How about a stroll through the Casino towards Las Vegas Blvd, make sure you stop by the luscious landscaped waterfall in the front of the property (which is also a great photo opportunity).
If you take the pedestrian bridge over to the Palazzo and the Venetian you find plenty more great opportunities to take pictures.

As many might have said before, if you want to travel the world in a day, there is almost nothing comparable to Las Vegas. The Venetian - Venice (Italy), Paris with the Eiffel Tower and it’s charm and many more like New York New York and the Pyramid of the Luxor of course.

Among many splendored things
After exploring the sights of these great resorts, I would suggest to head towards Town Square, which is a shopping mall indeed. It has much more to offer than the Fashion Show mall on the Strip.
Before you get to Town Square though, I suggest you stop at the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign and take your photo opportunity before you miss it!
The sign is located between the Mandalay Bay and Town Square on Las Vegas Blvd.

Town Square is an outdoor mall with many little side streets which adds some European flair to your shopping experience.
Lunch anyone?
Depending on what you feel like, Town Square offers many eateries and restaurants. One of my favorites is Brio Tuscan Grill. Their interior design is overwhelming and the attached patio with fireplaces makes it a great lounge towards the colder evenings.
Take a seat on their patio and enjoy a wonderful cup of Cappuccino with their Tiramisu. It’s delicious and will give you the right kick to move on.
Depending on what you feel like, Town Square offers many eateries and restaurants.
Sushi anyone? How about Kabuki? You can be selective from many other styles of cuisine as well.

“While some of my suggestions might appear pricey, you will have a priceless day with seeing Vegas in a way you never experienced it before.”
So close but yet so far in the Mojave Desert

Red Rock Canyon
After all these man made architectures, I suggest to go / drive the extra mile out towards Summerlin and visit Red Rock Canyon. The charge is per vehicle ($5), if you don’t hold the annual pass, well worth spent for the one-way 13-mile scenic drive.

The drive offers many great photo opportunities and is very relaxing. If you come across one of the rest stops on the way, which are point of interests... I suggest you stop. Get out of the vehicle and take a look around. Red Rock Canyon is also great for hiking.
www.redrockcanyonlv.org
Red Rock Canyon shows many different colors of rock and stone. This also depends on the season and the lighting by the rays of the sun. Yet depending on the season of the year. In springtime, the Mojave is showing it’s prettiest face with beautiful little flowers born in this harsh desert environment. Any season regardless is a good one to visit. The Canyon offers habitat to wildlife as well, so be careful and watch the road!

Downtown
Las Vegas and Fremont Street
Where it all began...
1 Fremont Street, Golden Gate Casino & Hotel built in 1906, it is one of the oldest, if not the oldest in Las Vegas. There is so much history to this joint, that I suggest you visit it yourself and find out. It is worth it! If you feel
lucky and like gambling get one of my lucky chips at any table or at the cashier cage and try it! Tell Curly at the bar hello for me. http://goldengatecasino.com/history/

There are many more attractions to Fremont Street and exploring the Golden Nugget’s shark tank is just one more.

There are free shows every night starting at 8pm under the big canopy which is stretched from Main Street to almost Las Vegas Blvd.
The artsy Fremont East District is great to visit, you will pass through here on your way to the El Cortez, another historic building downtown. If only the walls could speak.
Insert Coins, brings you straight back to your childhood. You can play Arcade games such as PacMan,Frogger, TRON and many more. They also offer VIP sections with your own gaming devices.
http://www.insertcoinslv.com/

In the MIX
Between the Spanish and the French cuisine
Dinner is served
Depending on how far your budget goes, there are plenty of options of course. One of my favorite places is Firefly http://www.fireflylv.com/ the best Tapas and Sangria in Las Vegas! The complimentary platter can almost fill you up itself with those delicious olives marinated in a secret house recipe, the baguette served with the sweet onion butter! Delicious!!! On the menu my top picks are stuffed dates, the artichoke toast and the tuna tartare. The prices are reasonable and instead of ordering a glass of Sangria get a pitcher! Just make sure you tried the red and the white. I love them both!
To make it a little more extravagant, and if your wallet is stuffed, I suggest you try MIX the restaurant located on the top of the Mandalay Bay.
http://www.mandalaybay.com/dining/mix/
The view is amazing and if you are looking for a gourmet experience, hallelujah! I can’t even find the words to define the experience of this fantastic restaurant. The palette of French - American fusion is magnifique! I suggest you make reservations and if the weather allows, try to get a cozy table outside. The view is spectacular.

Do you care for a Show? You came to the right place!
Amongst many free shows, like the Fountains at the Bellagio or the Sirens Show at Treasure Island, Las Vegas has to offer great entertainment.

Le Reve - The Dream

Le Reve at the Wynn is amazing and if your budget cannot handle the big productions, see Vegas the Show at Planet Hollywood or The Rat Pack Show at the Rio, the prices for these tickets are more affordable.
On a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night... or one of the Cirque du Soleil Show which amazed me the most was KA at the MGM Grand.

... I suggest you stop by Dino’s a neighborhood bar on Las Vegas Blvd between the Strip and Downtown.
http://dinoslv.com/new/
Dino’s is the best place to watch people and Danny G’s Karaoke is FUN!

You have to finish the night off with a stop at the Peppermill / Fireside Lounge and order their Bruschetta or their cheese platter.
http://www.peppermilllasvegas.com/#lounge I hope you enjoyed this day and some of my tips were helpful.
I bet you are tired now and let me tell you that you deserve a good night sleep.
As you might research some of my suggestions here, you might come to find that some have been rated BEST in Las Vegas. My recommendations are absolutely based on personal experience!

And keep me in mind for your photography needs, when you visit contact me at [email protected]
